Bio

Received a bachelor of engineering and a master’s and PhD in environmental studies, all from the University of Tokyo. Worked at the Institute of Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), the Research Institute for Sustainability Science, Osaka University, and the Center for Open Innovation Research and Education, Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, as associate professor, before serving as a senior officer for technology policy and strategy, Manufacturing Industries Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, between October 2016 and March 2018. Was appointed associate professor at the Center for Open Innovation Research and Education, Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, in April 2018, director of the center’s Future Design division in July, and professor in October 2019. Concurrently serves as a consulting fellow at the Research Institute for Economy, Trade, and Industry (RIETI) and is a member of the Science Council of Japan.
