I was born in 1963 and received my PhD in education from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Tsukuba, Japan. I worked as a research associate at the university and became a senior researcher at the National Institute for Educational Policy Research. I am currently a professor at Musashino University and a visiting professor at the Open University of Japan. I was also an expert member of the Central Council for Education. I am doing research on moral education as chair of the Frontier Association for Moral Education and serve as vice president and secretary-general of the Japanese Society for Moral Education.
