東京大学学士(経済学)。東京大学修士および博士(情報理工学)。University of Alabama at Birmingham(アメリカ)、Indiana University(アメリカ)にて博士研究員。感染症の数理モデル研究で学位を取得後アメリカに渡り、広く公衆衛生の中での数理的アプローチの応用を研究している。例えば肥満や栄養疫学における計測誤差の補正手法の開発及び評価を行っている。近年はウイルス量データの数理モデルによる分析を通じたCOVID-19の疫学、臨床科学、制度設計における問題解決(例えば適切な隔離の長さの決定など)を目指している。
