Season’s Greetings from the Tokyo Foundation
(Executive Director), Eriko, M. Akiyama (President), Mari, Keita, Akiko, and Takashi.
Dear members of the NF-JLEP management committee,
All of us at the Leadership Development team of the Tokyo Foundation send you our warmest thoughts and very best wishes for the Holidays.
The year of 2012 began with the issuing of the NF-JLEP Operation Manual for efficient program management at each university. We had the opportunity to visit six universities this year, completing the round of visits to all the NF-JLEP universities since 2011.
During 2012 we first called upon Monash University, followed by the University of Queensland, the Indonesia University of Education, Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, the University of Bucharest, and finally Cairo University. The focus of these visits was to explain the principles of the Manual.
We truly enjoyed the opportunity to meet and talk to Japanese-language students and teachers, who were all eager to gain a deeper understanding of the Japanese language and culture. We were encouraged by their enthusiasm and are grateful for the support provided by members of the management committee.
We received good news from Monash University: In November it successfully hosted the first national Japanese language education symposium in Australia in 36 years with more than 300 participants. Congratulations to the university, and we hope that many more good initiatives will be communicated next year!
We wish you peace and joy throughout the New Year!
