ハーバード大学政治学部博士課程。沖縄県立中部病院内科/感染症科研修、同県立宮古病院での感染症科医としての勤務を経て渡米。現在は国際関係論、政治心理学、計量政治学の視点から、国際的な医療格差とその遺産効果が政治行動や医療資源の利用に与える影響を中心に研究を行っている。博士課程進学前は感染症科医および政策アナリストとして、日本の離島から世界保健機関本部まで広く研鑽を積んできた。医師および社会科学者としてこれまで臨床医学、グローバル・ヘルス、国際関係論に関して行ってきた研究成果は、New England Journal of Medicine、Lancet、Nature Medicineなどに掲載されている。東京医科歯科大学医学部卒、ハーバード大学ケネディ行政大学院公共政策学修士課程修了(グラハム・アリソン/ベルファー・ヤング・リーダー・フェロー、およびロバート・ベルファー国際関係論最優秀修士論文賞受賞)。
